Garment Care.

Hand wash only.

Always hand-wash the item, or be prepared to reattach sequins/beads after washing. Fill your tub or large basin with cold to lukewarm water (never use hot water), by laying it flat. Wash your item inside-out to keep the sequins/beads from rubbing against the sides of the wash tub or large basin. Rub the soap into the lining with the palm of your hand in a circular motion. Avoid rubbing the garment as too much agitation can bend or break the beads/sequins. Do not scrub! Rinse the garment in several rinses of cool water – until the rinsing water is clear. Gently squeeze the water out (do not wring).

Dry Flat.

Knitted item with sequins/beads, especially heavy garments, should be dried flat. This will prevent stretching of the mess and fabric. Always allow the embellished garment to air dry. Never place it in a hot dryer, which can damage the finish or melt decorations and loosen the glue. If the garment is woven, hang to air dry away from direct sunlight and heat.

Store safely.

Box
Use an acid-free, sturdy cardboard storage box or sweater bag, and line it with tissue paper. Store the box in a place that is away from direct light, heat and damp. It needs to be dry, dark and cool in order to remain in optimum condition.

Hanger & Garment Bag
Store items in a garment bag made of cloth such as unbleached, un-dyed muslin so that it can breathe. Do not use plastic for long-term storage. This is advised when hanging in a wardrobe as you don’t want other items to get caught on your item and cause damage.

Mannequin
Should you want to display your piece on a mannequin, make sure it is no under any direct harsh light and keep out of direct sunlight for long periods of time. Place the mannequin in an area where it cannot be knocked down or disturbed.
